A Holiday on Wheels hires out motorhomes from our base in Thornleigh, in Sydney's north. Every van is built, owned and maintained by Suncamper Motorhomes, with almost 50 years of motorhome experience behind it, so we know them inside out and can show you how everything works before you head off.
Leading the fleet is The Sherwood: a Toyota HiLux 4x4 with a Suncamper Sherwood E-2 slide-on camper. It seats 2 and sleeps up to 4 when parked, and it's made for gravel roads and campsites. Think light adventure, not rock crawling.
For families and groups of up to six, The Haven, The Wayfarer and The Expeditioner are 6-berth Mercedes Sprinter motorhomes (Suncamper Saxby F-2), each with 6 seatbelts.
It's a new fleet, 2023 and later. All four vans are pet-friendly, kilometres are unlimited, and booking, payment and protection are handled securely through Camplify. Whether it's the coast, the mountains or a country town, pick a van and go.
“The Wayfarer was perfect for our trip. It is easy to drive for an experienced driver and handled the road well including the dirt road. There is a lot of rattling (mainly in the hanging cupboard) and some road noise to expect when on the road. All systems worked well. We are grateful to be able to rent such a beautiful vehicle and to achieve our travel goal with the safety and comfort of the Wayfarer.”

“Absolutely Gorgeous Motorhome & Excellent Service This motorhome was absolutely gorgeous and had all the conveniences we needed for our two-week trip. Built on a Mercedes Sprinter, it cruised comfortably at 110 km/h and had plenty of power to tackle even the steepest hills with ease. Sun Camper were fantastic to deal withcommunication was excellent, and the handover was very thorough, with everything explained clearly and in detail. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.”

“We had a very comfortable trip in this van. Has everything needed for extended trips. We stayed at unpowered sites mostly farmstays booked on Hipcamp. Very easy to drive, plenty of power and handles well. Two things to be mindful of, you cannot shut the bathroom door whilst sitting on the toilet. Also the driving cabin is very noisy, we quieted it by putting pillows behind and next to the seats. This made a huge difference and we could have a conversation whilst driving :) Overall the van suited our needs and the staff at Suncamoer couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.”

If there are two of you and you want to explore gravel roads and campsites, choose The Sherwood. It seats 2 and sleeps up to 4 when parked, but extra sleepers can't travel in it. If you're a family or group of up to six, choose one of the Sprinters. They sleep 6 and have 6 seatbelts. Still not sure? Call us on 0448 676 074.
The Sherwood, The Wayfarer and The Expeditioner can use gazetted unsealed roads and campground access roads under 10 km, as long as we've approved your route beforehand. No rock crawling or heavy off-road driving. Underbody damage and stone chips aren't covered.
Yes, all four vans are pet-friendly. The pet fee is $100 per hire, and there's no limit on the number of pets. You can leave pets in the van at your own discretion, but we strongly advise making sure your pet has adequate amenities and ventilation. On hot days a van can get very hot inside, just like a car. Extra cleaning fees may apply if the van comes back dirty or damaged.
All hires start and finish at our base: Unit 1, 9 Sefton Road, Thornleigh NSW 2120. Pick-up is from 2pm and return is by 10am. We can be flexible, but an extra cost may apply. One-way hire and airport delivery are also available as paid extras.
Choose a van on our fleet page, select your dates and book online. Booking and payment are completed securely through Camplify. Phone calls and emails aren't official bookings, so your dates are only secured once you book online.
Every booking is made through Camplify and includes MyWay Protect damage cover and free nationwide roadside assistance. Your bond and accident excess are managed through Camplify under the MyWay Protect agreement, and are shown before you confirm. Support during your hire is through Camplify. Drivers need to be 25 or older and hold a valid full licence. Overseas licences are accepted.
The minimum hire is 3 nights on every van, and longer in peak periods. Kilometres are unlimited on every van.
Every van comes with a kitchen, gas bottle, hose, power lead and toilet chemicals. Please replace any consumables that run out. Bedding and linen are paid extras. Other extras on all four vans include one-way hire, airport delivery and cleaning packages ($199 to $550), plus items like a generator, BBQ and camp chairs. Choose them when you book; prices are shown on each listing.
Bring it back by 10am with a full fuel tank, emptied tanks, the inside broom clean and wiped down, and all rubbish removed. Extra cleaning is charged if it's below that standard, so add a cleaning package when you book if you'd rather skip it.
Yes. If you buy any Suncamper motorhome within 30 days of your hire ending, 7 days of your hire (excluding cover) comes off the price. It applies to any of our vans at any time, one discount per booking, and can be combined with other deals. We'll pass your details to the Suncamper sales team.
